  • Robe de style by Lanvin, fall winter 1926–27
The twenties tend to be associated with the flapper tomboy style but another softer and more feminine silhouette called the Robe de Style was fashionable as well.

A 1920s interpretation of an 1810s gown. My head is twitching from the historic fashion overload.

  • yeoldefashion:

Absolutely exquisite 1928-1929 evening sandals by André Perugia. These amazing shoes feature cast metal heels and open backs, a feature that did not enter mainstream fashion until the mid-1930s.

Very interesting!

  • Robe de stylec.1923
The following fragment is from a very interesting article about this particular dress:

If you looked closely at the date, you may have been surprised to see that this dress is dated to c.1923. Popular images of 1920s dress focus primarily on the classic “flapper” dress—a very short sleeveless shift dress with fringe or beading. The robe de style was also popular during the twenties, though it was thought to be a classic and somewhat safe choice. It was considered appropriate for women of all ages, from debutante to matron. The flapper shift was more cutting-edge and was marketed towards stylistically younger and more fashion conscious women.
