This is another wedding dress from the 1860’s.  It’s lovely and simple with just the ruffles on the sleeves and at the hem for decoration. 

I like the smoothness yet fullness of the skirt and the straight waistline.  The train is also an nice touch. =P

(In fact I just decided it is mandatory for my wedding gown to have a train on it…)

Wow this is perfect!

Because we like our men well-groomed and equipped with all the basics: the tailcoat, the bow tie, the decorated hand cuffs and pockets, and of course, the sword!

I’m not sure how many Southern belles resorted to such extreme solutions after the Civil War, but I do know those were pretty rad curtains!

Fashion plate dated 4th of July 1869. The influences from the Western European “fashion scene” have a great impact on American taste, as proved by an increasingly large number of bows, frills, lace and decorations.

This boy’s (!!!) ensemble from 1869 mirrors the over drapery and fringe that started to be fashionable in women’s dresses in the period.

I know I know, faceless mannequins are creepy but focus on the hat!
